Bilateral trade in goods
Export goods from Spain to China grew 29.4% year-on-year in January to November 2017 to 5,788 million euros (2.3% of total Spanish exports). The main products that Spain exported to China were:
- Copper and its alloys (12.7%)
- Automotive equipment, components and accessories (6.4%)
- Frozen pork meat (5.8%)
- Unwrought zinc (4.4%)
- Copper waste and scrap (3.6%)
Import goods from China increased in January to November 2017 by 8% year-on-year to 23,630 million euros (8.5% of total imports). The main products that Spain imported from China were:
- Data and information processing and processing machines (5.3%)
- Telecommunications equipment (5.1%)
- Leather goods (2.8%)
- Game consoles, consoles and board games (2.8%)
- Wheel toys (2.1%)
Bilateral trade in services
In 2016, 2,069 Spanish companies, 26.2% more than in 2015, exported services to China for 638.8 million euros, and 2,177 Spanish companies, 6.3% more than in 2015, imported services from China for 506.7 million euros. More Chinese tourists are coming to Spain every year. According to Association of Tourism Spain-China (ATEC), in 2017 718,000 Chinese tourists visited Spain, 24% more than in 2016.
Bilateral investment flows
In 2016, Spain’s gross investment in China was 125.5 million euros. Less than in previous years (247 million euros in 2015 and 548 million euros in 2014).
In 2016, China’s investment in Spain was 1,119 million euros, compared to 1,483 million euros in 2015 and 610 million euros in 2014.
